Rugby Star Martin Johnson

We were delighted to have Martin Johnson visiting Mugurameno in October 2005. He really enjoyed his visit and spent time with the children teaching them a few rugby skills and playing a game of football.

The children still talk about his visit as they were bowled over at his size! The school now has in their possession some smart rugby balls and a few special memories.

Charity Award

MBSCT had some exciting news in April when one of our trustees, Jennifer Cooke, was short listed for YOU/Clarins Most Dynamisante Woman of the Year Award. This award celebrates the charitable work of women who help ill or underprivileged children either in the UK or further a field.

Out of hundreds of applicants Jenny was short listed to the final six and interviews took place in London. Unfortunately Jenny didn’t win the award but she was highly commended for her efforts, not only in improving facilities for the community and providing educational support, but also for her work with UK school children.

MBSTC was delighted to also receive a cheque for £1,000 from the Managing Director of Clarins in recognition for our work in Zambia and a short paragraph about our work appeared in the Daily Mail’s YOU magazine in June.
